Liquor seized during raids in Delhi

The excise department of Delhi government today conducted raids in various parts of the national capital and seized 4,224 bottles of illicit liquor.
A number of teams were formed and raids were conducted throughout Delhi to seize the non-duty paid liquor, Excise Commissioner J B Singh said, adding, many people were arrested in this connection and cases registered against them.
In the first incident, Shri Kishan and Sonu of Sant Nagar were carrying 360 bottles of illicit liquor for sale in Harayana which were recovered, Singh said.
The officials also confiscated their vehicle and a case against them has been registered in Burari police station under Delhi Excise Act 2009.
In another case, one Rahul Kishan was arrested for carrying 360 bottles for sale in Haryana.
Similarly, five other persons were arrested and cases registered against them at different police stations.
Earlier, the Excise Department, during its raids, had seized 10,176 bottles of illicit liquor, taking the total to 14,400, Singh said.
The raids will continue in the capital to check discrepancies and stringent action will be taken against persons found violating the provisions, he said.
