Liquor shops on national highways must be relocated: Collector
Press Trust of India Vijayawada The Vijayawada Traffic Advisory Committee unanimously resolved here today that all liquor shops along national highways should be removed and accordingly instructed the Andhra Pradesh Excise Department to take necessary action.
The Vijayawada Traffic Advisory Committee met here under the chairmanship of District Collector Babu A and discussed various issues related to road safety.
The Committee felt that most vehicle drivers consume liquor from shops set up along national highways due to which most of them get involved in accidents.
To avoid road accidents, the Committee felt that it would be necessary to relocate liquor shops which are situated along national highways.
The Committee has also asked police officials to check vehicle drivers with breath analysers at all toll plazas to verify if drivers are drunk.
