Liquor worth Rs 50 lakh seized in UP

Liquor worth nearly Rs 50 lakh was seized while being illegally transported in a truck here, an official of the excise department said.
The truck driver and the helper were also arrested in Farah police station area here last evening, Mathura District Excise Officer Omveer Singh said.
As many as 950 cartons of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) were seized while the consignment was being transported from Bathinda in Punjab without authorisation, he said.
The excise department has been carrying out a special drive to check bootlegging, he added.
