Literateur Kanakalata Mohanty dead

Eminent Odia writer Kanakalata Mohanty died today at a private hospital here, family sources said.
She was 82.
Mohanty was suferring from old age related problems and was admitted to the hospital on February 19.
She is survived by her four sons.
Mohanty is the author of 12 novels and more than a 100 short stories.
Her novels Ete Andhara, Kete Jwala and Anuradha shot her into the limelight in the 1960s.

Along with Bishara Mohanty which dealt with Sri Jagannath culture and Nabakalebara festisval, there are several other novels like Pakhi Janma ru Parikara, Bhinna Brindavan, Sudama, Tribhuja and Kabi Badhu that brought her numerous awards.
She was also recognized by All India Radio as a lyricist, particularly for her devotional songs on Sri Jagannath.
Mohanty, was also a well known speaker on Odia language and a devotee of Sri Aurobindo.
