The Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania said RTR Planeta, which is owned by Russian state broadcaster, had violated a law that "prohibits war propaganda, hatred and inciting discord."
The commission has previously banned some Russian TV programs including on RTR Planeta from being rebroadcast in Lithuania, but today's ruling was the first time it ordered a TV station to be taken off the air completely.
The move comes amid fears in the Baltic countries that Russia is trying to expand its influence there with broadcasts targeting Russian-speaking minorities.
