Litigants suffer as lawyers strike work in Kovai

More than 2,000 lawyers here today boycotted courts pressing various demands, including withdrawl of cases 'foisted' on their colleagues, affecting court proceedings and causing inconvenience to litigants.
The lawyers under the Coimbatore Advocate Association struck work demanding among others things filling of vacant posts of judges and payment of Rs 5,000 per month as stipend to young lawyers for a period of three years, police said.
Several litigants who had come to the court returned disappointed as the court work was affected by the lawyers' boycott, they added.
