With the disappearance of upper air cyclonic circulation (CYCIR) over north Bay of Bengal that developed yesterday, there was no chance of heavy rain or thunderstorm in the sub-Himalayan or Gangetic west Bengal.
"Only partly cloudy sky will be there which might result in some rain at a few places in Kolkata and surrounding areas in next 24 hours," according to the weather department here.
The state today experienced a negligible precipitation and most parts of Bengal remained hot and sultry in the absence of rainfall.
The maximum temperature in Kolkata was 35.2 degrees Celsius and minimum at 27.6 degrees Celsius, while Basirhat and Digha registered 36.5 and 35.6 degrees Celsius respectively, which were followed by 34.7 degrees Celsius at Purulia and 34.6 degrees Celsius at Asansol, the Met office said.
