According to Mahavitaran, two units of 660 MW each operated by Adani Power, a 600 MW unit of JSW Energy and a 500 MW unit operated by India bulls Power shut operations due to technical problems, while there is also a 500 MW drop in supply from the central grid.
"We have tied up 1,485 MW to meet a shortfall of 3,000 MW. We are drawing 1,200 MW from the central power exchange, while 285 MW is being taken under the provision of emergency electricity purchase," a senior Mahavitaran official said.
Adani has already told Mahavitaran that it would restore operations on unit 3 which generates 660 MW by tomorrow and unit 2 which generates 660 MW by June 4.
Indiabulls Power's 270 MW unit in Amravati and Mahagenco's 210 MW unit in Parli have already commenced operations, the official said.

"Adani has also informed Mahavitaran that foreign consultants are being consulted due to the peculiarity of the technical problem," the official said.
Maharashtra's peak demand is more than 15,500 MW and a shortfall in supply has forced the electricity distribution company to resort to load shedding.
