The loans can be availed from cooperative institutions, Minister for Cooperation B J Puttaswamy told reporters here.

An order to provide for loans up to Rs one lakh at three per cent interest to Women Self Help Groups has also been issued, he said.

The state in this year's budget had announced loans to landless labourers and SHGs.

Puttaswamy said the District Central Banks had not furnished the list of farmers who benefit from the Rs 25,000 loan-assistance to enable government to reimburse it to lending institutions concerned.

The government had formulated a scheme to extend Rs 34,000 loan to SCs and STs from the Karnataka Milk Federation to purchase milch cows in 2007, but the federation had not implemented it.

Under the scheme, the beneficiary would get 50 per cent subsidy, Puttaswamy added.

The government has decided to implement the scheme with immediate effect, he said.
