Local BJP leader shot dead

A 50-year-old local BJP leader Rajkumar alias Habbu was shot dead in his house allegedly by three unknown persons, police said here today.
Three persons came on a scooty to meet the BJP leader, who is also a property dealer, at around 8.30 PM last night, according to a report filed by Rajkumar's wife Namrata.
Whereas, one of them was sitting on the scooty, the other two entered the house and started talking to Rajkumar who was then lighting the diyas (earthen lamps) on the occasion of Diwali.
The two then opened fired on the leader and after firing six shots they managed to escape with their accomplice waiting outside, police said.

Rajkumar was rushed to a government hospital by the neighbours, where he was declared brought dead.
An FIR has been lodged against three unknown assailants and police is probing the matter, they said.
