Local congress leader shot dead in UP

A local Congress leader was gunned down today by three unidentified persons allegedly over an old dispute at Barhaj area, police said.
Three unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at Neel Kant Tiwari (40), corporator from Nandana ward of Nagar Palika Parishad, this evening while he was standing near a power sub-station, Superintendent of Police S Channapa said.
Tiwari, who sustained bullet injuries above abdomen, died on the spot, he said, adding that the assailants managed to flee from the spot.
