Suported by festive and wedding season demand, mustard oil prices spurted by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today.
However, soybean oil eased owing to slackened demand.
However, other edible and non-edible oils traded in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.
Traders attributed rally in mustard oil prices to strong demand from local parties triggered by Diwali festival.
They said, however, easing demand from millers dragged down soyabean oil prices.
In the national capital, mustard expeller (Dadri) oil rose by Rs 100 to Rs 8,500 per quintal. Mustard pakki and kachi ghani oils edged to Rs 1,500-1,550 and Rs 1,550-1,650 from previous levels of Rs 1,445-1,495 and Rs 1,485-1,585 per tin respectively.
On the other hand, soyabean refined mill delivery Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils were down by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,700 and Rs 6,400 per quintal respectively.
