Local Jammu leaders meet Kishtwar probe panel

A delegation of local leaders today met the one-member Commission probing the Kishtwar violence and blamed Jammu and Kashmir government for disturbance in the area.
The group, which included author and BJP leader Jitendra Singh, Panun Kashmir president Ashwani Charungoo and human rights activists Ashwani Charungoo today called on Justice (retd) R C Gandhi at his office here and handed over a their "Interim Report" on the violence.
According to them Justice Gandhi has promised a fair probe into the matter.
"The Interim Report was prepared after the group visited the troubled area," Dr Singh said after submitting the report.
The report offers a chronology of events preceding the August 9 violence as well as the sequence of events that followed, Singh said, adding that it also provides an estimate of the losses suffered by business establishments and damage caused to other properties.
He accused the state government of "connivance through indifference".
