No passenger or any other person on the platform suffered any injury, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sealdah, Basudev Panda said.
The Down Sonarpur-Sealdah local train hit the buffer of platform 13 in Sealdah South section at 10.20 am, he said.
"A train is supposed to stop four to five metres before the buffer, but despite being at a very slow speed, it overshot and hit the buffer," Panda said.
Two wheels of the front compartment of the train got derailed under the impact of the collision.
