Vinay Dubey (30) had sustained injuries after being hit by a jeep three days ago. He was admitted to Gorakhpur hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday, they said.
Locals resident had lodged an FIR in this regard, but there was no trace of the jeep or its driver. Enraged over the incident, villagers assaulted a policemen and torched Maduwahdeeh police outpost.
Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said some material was also damaged in the attack.
