Locals thrash electricity vigilance team in Jaisalmer

A vigilance team of electricity department was thrashed by some locals who were allegedly involved in power theft in the district here, police said today.
The team accompanied by police had gone to check power theft in Kiradia village yesterday when the incident took place.
The team detected power theft at four tube wells and was checking connection of another tube well when locals thrashed them, police said.
"Junior engineer Danaram, technical assistants Jugtaram and Vikram Bhadu were seriously injured in the incident following which they were admitted to a district hospital," police said.
The injured, however, accused the accompanying police personnel of inaction when locals attacked them.

A person has been arrested in this connection, police said.
