Lockdown at US university lifted; classes resume

A lockdown at North Carolina A&T State University has been lifted after a search failed to find any sign of a reported gunman.
Campus police chief Glenn Newell issued the "all clear" shortly before 2230 IST (1700 GMT). Classes are set to resume at 0030 IST Tuesday (1900 GMT)
Police had received a report of a man with a rifle at 1927 IST (1357 GMT) in the General Classroom Building, resulting in a security alert to students to "shelter in place." Two public high schools on the campus were also locked down.
Campus police and officers from the Greensboro Police Department responded, locking down a portion of the campus while teams swept and evacuated four buildings.
North Carolina. A&T is a historically black university with a nearly 80-hectare central campus east of downtown Greensboro.
