"The Government is determined to protect the interest of people of the state and it will not allow anyone to take the people for a ride," Sonowal said in a statement.
In view of the inordinate price rise of cement, steps would be taken to file cases against companies indulging in price rise without any substance, he added.
Earlier this month, Sonowal had held a meeting and questioned 25 cement companies about the reasons for the hike and asked them to cut the rates immediately.
Sonowal had also asked the company officials to come up with ways to keep the cement prices in check so that common people were not adversely impacted.
