JD(U) president Sharad Yadav today attacked the BJP and the Congress saying their "lofty" slogans will prove futile in the elections.
"Earlier 'Garibi Hatao' of Congress and BJP's 'India Shinning' have proved futile... The BJP and Congress are again resorting to lofty slogans," Yadav told reporters here.
Criticising "personality" based campaign of the two parties, Yadav said "how come these leaders, who are being portrayed in the campaign, will bring a turnaround in the country?"
"These leaders and parties are singing Phag song (songs sang on the eve of Holi) across the country, which is not impressing people," he said.
He alleged that corporate houses were behind such campaigns and the media was playing to their tune.
The JD(U) president, who himself is in the fray from the Madhepura constituency, pooh-poohed the BJP and the Congress for fielding a lot of filmstars and cricketers.
