"Acting on a tip-off, the police and forest officials raided an area in Sonali Tea Garden and found the logs of teak and saal buried under the soil and hidden in a two-storey abandoned house," DFO Dharmadeb Roy said.
The logs were dug out the soil and the police are in the lookout of the owner of the abandoned building, he said.
The raid jointly conducted by the police and forest officials continued from 8 am to 11 am.
The security forces also seized the logs which were snatched away from the forest guards on August 25 when their vehicles were attacked by the teak maffias, leaving three forest guards injured.
