Lokayukta police today issued alert to all immigration authorities to detain Arvind Joshi and his wife Tinoo, both IAS officers who were dismissed from service following a charge sheet filed against them in a disproportionate assets case, as police could not trace and arrest the couple as directed earlier by a special court.
The special court, which had earlier issued a arrest warrant against against Tinoo and Arvind and his two NRI sisters last month for their alleged involvement in the Rs 42 crore disproportionate assets case, today reissued the arrest warrant against them with a direction to produce them before the court by September 22.
The court has directed execution of the arrest warrant against Arvind's NRI sisters Abha and Vibha through Interpol via CBI.
"The couple were not found by the Lokayukta sleuths since a special court here had issued arrest warrant against them and others including Arvind's two NRI sisters on August 28, following which the Lokayukta issued alert to all immigration authorities including to those posted at airports," Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Virendra Singh said.
The court of Special Judge Dinesh Mishra had sent six persons to jail in connection with the case and directed Lokayukta to arrest the IAS couple and Arvind's sisters.
The couple has not appeared before court even for a single hearing.
The accused, both IAS officers of 1979 batch, were charged with accumulating huge wealth which is disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Lokayukta Police had submitted a charge sheet against the IAS couple and 18 others in the case on February 22, under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
