Ordering personal appearance of four top officials before it on August 16, Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin warned Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Principal Secretary General Administration Department, Chief Engineers of DSIIDC and Flood and Irrigation Department of penal proceedings if they do not obey the orders.

The Lokayukta is probing a complaint that development works were carried out in 11 unauthorised colonies by alleged tampering of a Cabinet decision dated November 20, 2007.

The Lokayukta on July 25 had asked the UD department to produce the original Cabinet decision and some other original documents related to laying of roads and development works in a number of unauthorised colonies.

The government had produced photocopy of the November 20 Cabinet decision but failed to submit some other documents saying they were not traceable.

Unhappy with the explanation, the Lokayukta on July 25 had threatened to initiate penal proceedings against concerned official if they fail to produce the original documents by within 10 days.
