Accompanying by a 25-member delegation that included the Deputy Mayor of London, Johnson was welcomed by Pramukh Swami Maharaj - the inspirer and creator of Swaminarayan Akshardham and Spiritual Head of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
Johnson was welcomed by offering a tika (vermilion powder), tying of the sacred nada chhadi (sacred thread) and placing a sanctified garland of flowers around his neck in a gesture of peace and friendship.
"I am truly touched and inspired by Akshardham's message of unity in diversity and peace and the spirit of volunteerism and dedication," he said.
