London's Tate Gallery exhibits art show in Delhi village

Britain's Tate Modern Art Gallery is hosting its maiden India exhibition in a new collaboration with city-based collective Khoj, which showcases video, sound text and performance artpieces by established and new artists.
Titled "Word, Sound and Power", the group art show which throws a spotlight on the human voice had debuted at Tate's Project Space Gallery in London from July 12 to November 3 before moving here.
Beginning January 15, the show is expected to continue till February 8 at experimental gallery Khoj Studios in Khirkee village here and is also been listed as a collateral event at upcoming India Art Fair.
Jordanian artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan, French-Norwegian artist Caroline Bergvall, Danish artist Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen and five Indian artists including Amar Kanwar, Anjali Monteiro and K P Jayasankar, Pallavi Paul and Mithu Sen are participating in the show.
"We were invited by Tate in 2011 to be part of this collaboration and are thrilled that their fist collaboration in India is with us," Pooja Sood,Director, Khoj said at a special press preview today.
"This collaboration also points towards an interest shared by both the Tate and Khoj in socio political issues of migration, political expression and its articulation through voice and silence," she said.
Khoj's resident curator Andi-Asmita Rangari collaborated with Loren Hansi Momudu of the Tate for the show, which "explores how the human voice in speech or song is either a tool of protest or sign of self.
