The Punjab Police Vigilance Bureau has issued a look-out notice for former Moga Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Jit Singh in view of reports indicating that he may flee the country.

According to a police spokesman, Raj Jit is required for questioning in connection with FIR registered at the PS Flying Squad, Vigilance Bureau.

The FIR pertains to allegations against the dismissed Inspector Inderjit Singh, then posted in Tarn Taran, and Raj Jit, who was then SSP there.

As per the FIR, some alleged drug smugglers had managed to get a clean chit in the chemical examination of certain drugs seized from them as a result of the complicity of the lab staff, the spokesman said.

It was also alleged that Inspector Inderjit, on receiving a tip-off, had called the said lab staff for questioning and instead of arresting the main accused Jagdeep Singh, had, in collusion withRaj Jit Singh, made him an approver in the case, the spokesman said.

There are allegations that money exchanged hands in the process, according to the spokesman.

The Look-Out Notice has been sent to the Punjab Police Intelligence Bureau and will be dispatched to airports and other exit points to prevent Raj Jit from escape questioning, said the spokesman.

Raj Jit is currently posted as commandant 4th battalion Mohali since his transfer out of Moga as SSP on July 2.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had last year ordered the setting up of the special investigation team (SIT) led by DGP Sidhharth Chattopadhyay to probe the role of Raj Jit Singh and a dismissed police inspector Inderjit Singh in the drug trafficking case.
