Losses incurred by CPSEs rise to Rs 28,756 cr during 2015-16

Losses incurred by central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) have increased to Rs 28,756 crore during 2015-16 as against Rs 27,498 crore in the previous fiscal, Parliament was informed today.
In 2013-14, the ailing CPSEs recorded a loss of Rs 21,341 crore, Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
"The concerned administrative ministries/departments formulate revival/restructuring plans for sick and loss making CPSEs on a case-to-case basis and after obtaining the approval of competent authority for implementing the plan," he said.
The minister said that there are 320 CPSEs (244 in operation and 76 under construction) in the country.
