Lot need to be done for tribal areas of Raj: Margaret Alva

Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva today said a lot of work was needed to be done for the betterment of tribal areas of Rajasthan and to address women issues there.
"Though tribals in the state are happier as compared to other parts of the country, still a lot of work is required to be done for the betterment of tribal areas and to address women issues there," Alva said.
"Vacant posts are one of the key issues in tribal areas in the state. Our doctors and teachers do not want posting in such areas, but this mindset should be changed. I visited several girls hostel where warden and cooks are male," she told reporters here referring to her past visits to Tribal Sub Plan areas of the state.
Alva said she highlighted the issues in a report submitted during the governors conference in Delhi recently.
Extending wishes on the occasion of International Women's Day today, Alva said society's mindset toward women was changing positively.
"Things have changed and there is change in attitude toward women after the participation of women in elected bodies increased," she said.

Alva expressed hope that the next Lok Sabha will show more "commitment" for the Women Reservation Bill.
"I hope that the next Lok Sabha will have a higher representation of women and there will be more commitment for the critical Women Reservation Bill," she said.
Extending support to all women fighting their battle for existence across the globe, the Governor said she had also fought many battles in her life and had won some while lost others, but had no regret for anything.
