Lovers killed in Odisha

In a case of honour
killing, a girl and her boy friend were killed allegedly by her brothers at Haladiapadara on the outskirt of the town early today, police said.
Police recovered the bodies of the lovers in a pool of blood from the residence of the her boyfriend at Haladiapadar, about 15-km from here.
Marriage of the girl was scheduled to he held today at Narayan Pur near Digapahandi and her family had organised a dinner last night where her boyfriend alongwith the family members were also invited , police said.
Before the marriage, the girl, however allegedly fled with her boyfriend around mid-night after the feast, they said.

Two bothers of the girl along with a relative reached the house of Amara and asked her to return home to keep the honour and prestige of the family intact, but she refused. Angry over it, they allegedly killed the girl and her boy friend in presence of Amara's mother, police said.
The accused persons were absconding after committing the crime, said SP (Berhampur) AK Singh. The father of the girl was detained and investigation was on to ascertain facts, he said.
