A low-intensity blast was triggered near the superintendent of police's office at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills district, police said Tuesday.

The blast took place around 10.35 pm on Monday, behind the compound of a cooperative building where some carpenters were sleeping, the police said.

"No one was hurt during the blast and we are trying to ascertain as to who was behind it. For now, no one has come forward to claim responsibility," the Superintendent of Police of East Garo Hills district, T G Momin, said.

"We are currently investigating the matter and trying to figure out the motive behind the act," he said.
