LS polls: 99 nominations rejected in UP

As many as 99 nominations were rejected during scrutiny today leaving 269 candidates in fray for 15 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh going to polls on May seven in the eighth and penultimate phase.
Of the 368 nominations, 99 were found invalid during scrutiny leaving 269 aspirants in race for 15 LS seats, Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said.
A total of 51 candidates filed their nominations today for 18 Lok Sabha seats in UP going to polls on May 12 in the last phase, he said.
Repolling in two booths in Rampur was peaceful with an estimated 55 per cent voters exercising their franchise, Sinha said.
