LS polls: Haryana prohibits sale of liquor along Raj border

Haryana government has prohibited the sale of liquor along the adjoining Rajasthan border in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the neighbouring state.
"Haryana's Excise and Taxation Department has prohibited the sale of liquor in three-km area of the State's territory adjoining Rajasthan border in view of the Lok Sabha polls in the neighbouring state for which polling is to held in first phase on April 17," an official spokesman said.
Sale and carrying of liquor would be banned in these areas from 6 p.M. Of April 15 till polling is over in the areas of Rajasthan bordering Haryana which go to polls on Thursday, he said.
Sri Ganganagar and Churu are among those areas which border Haryana and go to polls in the first phase in Rajasthan.
No liquor would be allowed to be served on these days in the said area, he said, adding similarly in view of general elections in Punjab, no liquor would be allowed to be served, sold or carried in three km area of the State adjoining Punjab border from 6 p.M. Of April 28 to 6 p.M. Of April 30.
Polling for all 13 seats in Punjab is to be held on April 30.
