Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha P J Kurien today greeted J Jayalalithaa on her return as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
"Please accept my heartiest congratulations on assuming charge as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. I am confident that under your able leadership Tamil Nadu will further prosper and you will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people," Mahajan said in her letter.
In his letter, Kurien said, "It is indeed a moral victory for you as the judiciary has upheld the faith and trust reposed on it by the people of Tamil Nadu."
"I take this opportunity to wish you continued success in leading the state of Tamil Nadu and the nation and to realize the dreams and aspirations of the people for getting their tears wiped off and ensuring all-round progress," he said.
The text of the letters by Mahajan and Kurien was released by the Tamil Nadu government today.
On being convicted and sentenced to four years' prison term by a Bengaluru trial court in connection with a wealth case in September last, Jayalalithaa was disqualified as Chief Minister.
However, she was acquitted of all charges by the Karnataka High Court last month, allowing her return as Chief Minister for the fifth time.
She was sworn-in on May 23.
