"Please accept my heartiest congratulations on assuming charge as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. I am confident that under your able leadership Tamil Nadu will further prosper and you will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people," Mahajan said in her letter.
In his letter, Kurien said, "It is indeed a moral victory for you as the judiciary has upheld the faith and trust reposed on it by the people of Tamil Nadu."
The text of the letters by Mahajan and Kurien was released by the Tamil Nadu government today.
On being convicted and sentenced to four years' prison term by a Bengaluru trial court in connection with a wealth case in September last, Jayalalithaa was disqualified as Chief Minister.
However, she was acquitted of all charges by the Karnataka High Court last month, allowing her return as Chief Minister for the fifth time.
