Lt Governor, CM urges for contributions to Flag Day fund
Press Trust of India Puducherry Puducherry Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh has appealed to people of Puducherry to make liberal contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund.
In his message on the eve of the Armed Forces Flag Day, the Lt Governor said that the day 'is intended to honour the valiant and the martryred and to renew our solidarity with the Armed Forces services personnel'.
'Our Armed Forces have made immense sacrificies while upholding the security and integrity of the country both from external and internal distubrances' he said adding that a large number of sevrice personnel had been causalities to the call of duty and were compelled to lean on others for support of their families.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy who complimented the patriotic role the armed forces personnel played in the security and safeguarding of the nation against internal and external distubrances said that Puducherry government had paid special attention to the welfare of defence personnel, their dependants and their children. The government would soon bring in several more measures to ameliorate their lot.
He appealed to people to make liberal contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund.
