Lt Governor pedals through Pondy to have glimpse of town

Demonstrating his eco friendly inclination, Lt Governor of Puducherry Lt General (retd) A K Singh pedalled through major areas of the town on a cycle, accompanied separately by his security officer.
Dispensing with his luxury car, he used the common's man conveyance yesterday in his journey through the town.
An official communication from his office today said that Singh, Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and now holding additional charge of the Union territory of Puducherry, rode his bicycle to Indira Gandhi sports complex at Uppalam, some three kilometres from Rajnivas and on return had a full glimpse of the Assembly premises.

This is the first time that a Lt Governor of Puducherry is using a bicycle to have a look of the former French town.
Puducherry has basically been planned by the former French regime for bicycle users and the planned city attracts visitors and tourists who hire bicycles to ride through the town and its peripheral pockets.
