LTC scam: Court allows plea of accused to become approver

A Delhi court today allowed the plea of an accused in the leave travel concession (LTC) scam against Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Sahani, to turn an approver in the case.
Special CBI Judge Virender Kumar Goyal allowed the application of accused Anup Singh Panwar, an employee of Delhi -based Air Cruise Travels Private Ltd, who said he wanted to assist the prosecution in the case to unearth and prove the conspiracy.
"Charge sheetofthepresentmatterhasalreadybeen filed againstalltheaccusedpersons.Itiscontendedthat accused (Panwar) iswillingto disclosefullfactsrelatingto theoffenceandeveryotherperson concernedinthecommission oftheoffence.
"Reply has been filed on behalf of CBI in which it is contendedthatduringtheconfessionalstatement,Panwar had disclosed incriminatingfactsagainstotheraccusedpersons andexplainedhis role also," the judge said while allowing the application.
The court had on April 12 granted bail to Panwar along with Sahani and N S Nair, the then Office Superintendent of Air India, on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and surety of like amount to each in the CBI case for allegedly using fake bills for claiming LTC.
While granting the relief, the court had put several conditions on the accused and asked them not to leave the country without its permission.

The court had on March 16 summoned Sahani, Nair, Panwar and Arvind Tiwari, who works with Murgai Travels, to appear before it after taking cognisance of the CBI charge sheet filed against them.
The CBI had filed the final report under various sections dealing with cheating, forgery and under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency had alleged that Sahani, in collusion with other persons, used forged e-tickets and fake boarding passes and claimed lakhs of rupees as travel and dearness allowance reimbursement without undertaking the actual journey.
