The Ludhiana Customs Commissionerate registered 59.82 per cent growth in net revenue collections at Rs 1,604.88 crore during 2017-18 compared to that in 2016-17.
"Ludhiana Customs Commissionerate has realised new revenue of Rs 1,604.88 crore during the financial year ending March 31, 2018 as compared to net revenue of Rs 1,004.16 crore during the same period in financial year ending March 2017. This shows an increase of Rs 600.72 crore," Ludhiana Customs Commissioner A S Ranga said in a release.
The jurisdiction of Ludhiana Customs Commissionerate extends to Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Punjab (except area of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Ferozepur and Fazilka).
He further informed that three more inland container depot (ICD) at Kila Raipur and Ludhiana would be functional in next three to six months.
There are already ICDs at Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
The commodities imported at the ports falling under the Ludhiana Customs Commissionerate included ferrous waste scrap, recovered paper and paper board, synthetic staple fibre and vehicle parts and accessories etc and these items contributed about 42 per cent of the total revenue realizations, release said.

Giving information about preventive action, Ranga said the preventive unit booked 81 cases and an amount of Rs 3.61 crore was realized.
Besides, there were 31 cases of gold smuggling valued at Rs 4.61 crore at the Chandigarh International airport, he said.
Up to February this year, Ludhiana Customs handled the clearance of 52,964 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units) of export and 98,074 of import cargos from all ICDs and CFS under its jurisdiction.
