The incident took place yesterday evening when Virinder Ghumber, along with some other supporters of her wife's party, were coming back from the poll campaign, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Surinder Lamba said while quoting the statement given by the victim.
Virinder told the police that he mistook the two youths as Shiv Sena (H) supporters.
He said that the two first signalled them to stop the car, after which while discussing about the campaign one of them attacked him with an iron rod.
The victim was rushed to the civil hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.
Ludhiana MC polls candidate Monika Ghumber was not in the car when the incident took place, police confirmed.
A case has been registered against the two unidentified youths, and hunt is on to nab the culprits, police said.
