Meghalaya Governor K K Paul has appointed former bureaucrat Lutherine R Sangma as chairperson of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC), official sources said today.
"The Governor has appointed Sangma as chairperson of the MPSC on Tuesday," a senior government official told PTI.
She would replace Ashok Kumar Tigidi, who retired last month.
Sangma had served as Education Commissioner and Secretary besides holding the post of a Director of Food and Civil Supplies department, the official said.
According to the MPSC regulations, the term of a chairperson is six years from the date on which he/she enters office or until he/she attains the age of 62 years whichever is earlier.
