Five stolen luxury cars were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Sagar Lakra (20), Sunny Lakra (21) and Prince Sharma (23), who used to sell the stolen cars on an e-commerce website, said DCP (South) Prem Nath.
"They used to target luxury cars and, after stealing these, used to park the same at different places. They used to prepare fake RCs and put fake number plates on the vehicles before updating the description of these vehicles on the website for sale," a police official said.
One Gurmeet Singh complained to police that he had taken delivery of a Honda City from Sagar Lakra near Moti Bagh gurdwara in Nanakpura after paying the entire amount of Rs 45,000 for the vehicle.
But he later found that the car had been stolen from Jaitpur area in south Delhi.
Following the complaint, police laid a trap and arrested Sagar and Sunny Lakra from the Moti Bagh area. The third accused was arrested later from Sarita Vihar.
The trio told police that they had to leave one stolen Hyundai i10 near Zirakpur flyover near Chandigarh. Two more stolen cars were later recovered from different places in Haryana and Chandigarh, said a police official.
