Demanding a fresh probe into the Muzaffarnagar riots related gangrape cases, Khap leader Naresh Tikait has written to the UP government, asking it to stop the attachment proceedings initiated against the absconding accused.
In a letter written to the UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, Tikait said, "the accused were falsely implicated by the victim women and a fresh probe should be launched into the cases."
Police had registered six separate gangrape cases against 27 people in Phugana village in September last year.
An SIT team, constituted to investigate the complaints, had found 22 persons involved in five cases. Two accused have been arrested by the police, while 20 are still at large.
On the direction of a local court, police has started attachment of property of absconding gangrape accused.
