The Centre has released another installment of Rs 2,160 crore to the Maharashtra government for taking drought mitigation measures, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Tuesday.
Fadnavis also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving the funds to the state, where a number of districts are in the grip of drought, from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
"Thank you Hon PM @narendramodi ji for giving another installment of Rs 2160 crore towards drought mitigation measures from NDRF in the state of Maharashtra!" Fadnavis tweeted.
The total central assistance received so far is Rs 4248.59 crore, the chief minister said on the micro-blogging site.
Under attack from the opposition over the issue of drought, the Fadnavis government was recently allowed by the Election Commission to take relief measures in the state after it had sought relaxation of the model code of conduct.
