Weapons manufactured in illegal factories of Munger in Bihar have found their way to Indian Mujahideen terrorists, Delhi Police sources said today.
They said investigators have recovered illegal weapons made in Munger from the five persons arrested in connection with Pune blasts. They had allegedly told policemen that they bought the weapons from Munger.
Following this, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has now tasked Special Commissioner (Special Cell) S N Srivastava to conduct a study on the issue.
Sources said police were on hot pursuit of Munger weapons and only last week a team led by Inspector Subhash Vats, whom police had nick-named 'Mungerwala', arrested four persons and recovered 20 sophisticated weapons.
A senior police official said weapons made in Munger were seen in Bangalore and Madhya Pradesh. "Earlier they used to send weapons through train but now they use vehicles by road," they said.
Asked as to why a terrorist should go after country-made weapons, the official claimed, "a countrymade pistol manufactured in Munger is as good as a sophisticated one."
