Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday appointed Madhusudan Mistry as the chairman of the newly-formed civic and social outreach wing.
Mistry, a senior leader from Gujarat, was earlier part of the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision-making body of the party. He was also a general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a separate statement that Bhupen Borah, AICC secretary for Tripura, will also be AICC secretary for Mizoram till the completion of the state assembly election.
Mizoram is slated to go to assembly polls later this year, along with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
