Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today urged Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu to approve metro projects in Indore and Bhopal.
The state government had submitted the revised detailed project reports (DPRs) for the two metro projects in January this year.
Chouhan, who met Naidu here, also discussed about the funds for the metro projects, an official statement said.
They also deliberated on solid waste management, an important component of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).
The segregation of municipal solid waste at source will soon start in 131 cities where waste-to-compost plants are either operating or would soon come up. The initiative will be launched from Indore next month, it said.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh called on Naidu and discussed the implementation of various urban sector schemes in the state.
The Union minister stressed the need for timely execution of schemes launched for improving urban infrastructure, affordable housing, ensuring cleanliness and public transportation.
Naidu holds the portfolios of urban development, housing and urban poverty alleviation and information and broadcasting.
