: The Madras High court was today informed that 100 out of 120 quarters required for accommodating the CISF personnel deployed on security duty on the Court premises here, have been allotted.
A submission to this effect was made by Assistant Solicitor General Su Sreenivasan appearing for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), before the first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sundar.
The matter relates to the suo motu PIL petition with regard to the CISF Security to the Principal seat of Madras High Court at Chennai and its Madurai bench.
The court also granted time till March 15 to the state Public Works Department to complete the ongoing civil works in the High Court premises here and in Madurai.
"We do believe that it is fairly a long period of time, but at the request of AG, we grant time till March 15, 2017." the judges said.
However, the judges made it clear that if the work was not completed by that date the Principal secretary of PWD shall remain personally present in the court.
The bench then posted the matter to March 20.
After a prolonged boycott by advocates in Tamil Nadu against the amendments made to the Advocates Act, the Madras High Court thought it fit to handover the security of the Court to a central security agency and passed an order last year handing over the responsibility to the CISF.
