Madurai Bench court complex beautiful and remarkable:HC
Press Trust of India Madurai The Madurai Bench of the Madras High court bench today described the court complex here as "beautiful and remarkable", and a pride, as an institution, among all the high courts in the country, and directed the Registrar (administration) to ensure that standards of maintenance of the complex was kept high and efficient.
A Division Bench of Justice R.Sudhakar and Justice V.M.Velumani was disposing of a petition filed by one G.Thiagarajan, seeking to implement series of measures to protect the environment and ecology of the complex where there were 5000 trees and plants.
The bench said the administration had taken measures for systematic planting and maintenance of a large variety of trees and plants. This had improved the environment of the court. The water body in the court and trees attracted a huge gathering of birds.
Forty variety of birds were staying in the court complex. The Peacock population had increased. The complex had become envy of others, the judges said, adding, efforts were now being made to use solar power and reduce power consumption.
The judges said the PIL litigant's suggestions could also be considered by the administration.
