Madurai Police now on WhatsApp

With growing popularity of 'WhatsApp', the city police today registered its presence on the mobile phone message application, enabling people to lodge complaints and provide information for quick action.
Madurai Police can be reached on mobile number 8300021100 on 'WhatsApp', Police Commissioner Shylesh Kumar Yadav said while launching the service.
He expressed hope that the facility would be a major boost to the police information source, especially with regard to getting information about incidents in any corner of the city.
Madurai being a temple city and a sensitive area with terrorist threats, such a facility would be a boon, said another police official.

It could play a vital role in detecting crimes and nabbing the criminals if used smartly, the official added.
Madurai Police already have a Facebook page.
