Mafatlal forays into school dress segment, eyes Rs 500-cr biz

Mafatlal Industries Ltd (MIL), the flagship company of the Arvind Mafatlal Group, has forayed into readymade school and corporate uniform garments.
"We have now forayed into readymade school and corporate uniform garments and plan to touch Rs 500 crore business within the next 5 years only in the readymade uniform category.
"We expect to do around Rs 75 crore in the current year in corporate readymade uniform business," Mafatlal Industries President (Marketing and Sales) M B Raghunath said in a statement.
The all India market size of uniform fabric is around Rs 8,000 crore and annual growth rate is around 10 per cent, Raghunath said.
These products will be available at all Mafatlal family shops, uniform stores and retailers, it said adding, Mafatlal has also launched an e-commerce site for uniforms.
The uniqueness of this e-commerce business is that online & offline business will be merged in such away that online will be a business and service provider to the offline retail stores. In this model the online business will not affect the offline business, it added.
Mafatlal Industries is a pioneer for quality textiles in India since 1905. The company's product portfolio consists of yarn dyed shirting, suiting, voiles, prints, linens, bleached white fabrics, rubia, value added and fashion denims, school uniform fabrics, corporate/ institutional uniforms, bed and bath linen and readymade garments.
The sales volume of Mafatlal Industries is over 85 million meters per annum.
