Five workers at the 600 MW plant of Korba West Power Company at Bhandar village, about 20 km from here, were killed on July 21 when an under-construction cooling tower collapsed on them.
District Collector Amit Kataria, who ordered the magisterial inquiry into the mishap, has also suspended all work at the unit in view of the possibility of a major accident keeping in mind the safety of workers, they said.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate J R Chaurasia is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the inquiry and will be submitting the report within 30 days.
Meanwhile, the officials of the privately-owned power plant have informed that the company has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
