Many electors and leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Monday alleged various anomalies in the voters' lists in Maharashtra during the fourth and final phase of Lok Sabha elections.

NCP candidate from Nashik Lok Sabha constituency Sameer Bhujbal said the name of his mother was missing from the voters' list at a polling booth in Cidco area.

In Mumbai, many voters whose residential buildings have gone for redevelopment were shocked to see their names missing from the lists.

In Palghar constituency neighbouring Mumbai, voters complained that their names were deleted.

NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, who represents Mumbra-Kalwa assembly constituency in Thane district, claimed that the name of his late father still figured in the list of voters.

"His name is still there even though the authorities concerned were informed and proper documents submitted for deletion of the name," he said.

The NCP leader also alleged that names of some people who are alive were mentioned as dead voters.

He claimed that around 20 per cent of the total voters in Thane district could not exercise their franchise due to anomalies in the voters' lists.

"Names of members of one family appeared in different polling centres. If a voter has a voter identity card, his name should remain in the voters' list till he is dead," he said.

Mrityunjay Bose, a resident of Vasai in Palghar district, claimed that names of himself and his family members were missing from the voters' lists.

Bose said he had searched his and his family's names in the voter list available with political parties in Nallasopara assembly segment.

"We got the voter slip from these parties. But when our turn came for voting at a polling booth, we were told that we are not registered voters," he said, adding that they had voted during the bypoll to Palghar Lok Sabha seat, which was held last year.

Nityanand Bhise, whose house falls under Mumbai North West constituency, said his building went for re-development in 2012 and residents had shifted elsewhere.

"In 2014, political parties in the locality contacted us and we cast our votes. But now we find that 30 per cent of the names have been deleted from the voters lists," he said. A total of 17 constituencies, including Mumbai region and north Maharashtra, voted Monday.
